Liberal Democrat Councillor for Hartley Wintney, Eversley and Yateley Learn more

I have received a letter from a local resident about the accident rate on this road as well as an email from Cllr Colin Ive the Chairman of Hart Road Safety and former Yateley Fire Chief.
Both express concern about a road that some like to speed along and where deer are regular victims of cars as well as drivers and passengers.
I had already written to the Head of Hampshire Highways (North) following the resident’s letter and he has instigated a review of the safety on this road.
It is difficult to know how to reduce speed as the topography lends itself to the road going up and down in a way some like. Fencing in the sides to stop deer is likely to lead to massive local objections – and the deer are not the obvious problem anyway.
I would welcome any suggestions that are practicable and will pass them on.
STOP PRESS 1st October
Cllr Chris Abbott, Chairman of Mattingley Parish council, has since asked me to try and get a 40 MPH limit in order to help prevent further accidents.
