Schools are taking part in Democracy week to show children how democracy works. Monday morning12th Oct I helped with the School Council of Charles Kingsley School, Eversley when they visited Hart Council Civic Offices.

The School Council was held in Hart Council Chamber with Chair of the School Council in the seat normally occupied by the Hart Council Chair.

There was an interesting debate, by the school councillors, on how new equipment should be used and how it should not be used.

Safety and respect for others appeared uppermost in their minds.

The councillors were well informed about the subject and the chair girl was excellent, keeping control, teasing out different strands of debate and summing up arguments very well.

When they had left a number of people, who had met them during their visit, took the opportunity to tell me how well behaved and polite they all were.
