Rural Exception Housing – Heckfield

by David Simpson on 8 April, 2010

In another packed meeting not a single person wanted the rural exception housing to go ahead.

During the February meeting a large number of people had been there who agreed they wanted it but on this occasion all the near neighbours attended and asked the Parish Council not to agree the scheme.

After the meeting I was handed the results of a questionnaire taken to the 22 houses in Chamberlain’s Meadow.

The Question asked was very simple: “Are you in favour of some more low cost housing being built on the proposed site?

2 Houses are currently empty, 1 house never answered the door despite repeated visits.

That left 19 who answered.

2 had no opinion or were undecided

17 were against the development in this location.

The Parish Council has now agreed to reconsider whether or not to recommend this site for development under the Rural Exception Scheme.

Further if the site is to be made available then the majority would like it to become allotments or a children’s play area.
