Hampshire Constabulary is being completely reorganised to reduce support costs.  At the moment the objective is to 100% protect:

• all Safer Neighbourhood Teams (PCSOs and Beat PCs),
• all Response Teams (the people who drive a fast car to you when you call 999), and
• all Detection Teams. 

Just about everything else is being reorganised on a Zero Based Budget model to drive down costs.  Better to get rid of 10 Chief Superintendent posts or 20 Chief Inspectors than 50 PCs or 70 PCSOs!  Please don’t take these numbers literally – they are just to illustrate that savings at a senior level have a big impact on the front-line.
